About

Hi, I’m Tasfia!

I am a teacher candidate from Thompson Rivers University where I am working on completing my degree in Secondary STEM Education. In addition to my education at Thompson Rivers, I also hold degrees in Applied Biology from UBC and Environmental Science from the University of Toronto. As you can likely tell, I am a lifelong learner!

As a motivated and passionate teacher candidate, I am eager to contribute to a supportive and engaging learning environment that prioritizes inspiring an innovative and unified learning community. My teachable subjects include junior sciences and biology, but I am open to stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something new! In all courses, I am committed to inclusive, student‑centered, and inquiry-based teaching practices. I strive to build positive relationships with students and collaborate closely with colleagues, support staff, and families to support student learning and well‑being.

In terms of who I am as a person: I primarily consider myself a sister. My two younger brothers are my favourite people in the world, and I am the lucky person who gets to be their sister. I also enjoy spending time with my friends – trying out new food, recreationally playing sports, going to musicals and plays. I’m a bit of a nerd, and enjoy things like reading, sketching, and video games.
